Job order costing is a method of cost accumulation and distribution for custom manufacturing. This course teaches tools for developing consistent reliable cost estimates to make sure that job pricing is competitive and profitable. It also discusses effective costing procedures and their implementation. The major topics include: Job order cost system defined; issuance of materials; labor cost; role of fixed and variable overhead; accounting for waste; data accuracy; and real problems in job cost estimating. This course, targeted to employees involved with estimating cost or managing manufacturing resources, will be taught in person in a mix of class lecture, group discussion and hands-on activities and exercises.
