Through lecture, practice activities and using the building blocks of business writing, participants improve their skills in grammar, mechanics, and usage as related to business writing. Topics include sentence construction, capitalization and punctuation, word choice, concise wording, pronoun use and more. It introduces style elements to improve clarity, precision, and persuasive power, advanced sentence structure, including parallel construction, active vs. passive voice, correct placement of modifiers, and importance of word choice. This course, targeted to salaried workers who must write professionally, will be taught in person in a mix of class lecture, group discussion and hands-on activities and exercises.
