Lighting has contributed considerably to global warming through high energy use as well as requiring toxic materials to produce effective illumination. New considerations have emergy as new technologies have drastically reduced power requirements, including the reduction of light pollution, responsible material use, and impacts on wildlife. Participants will learn about technological developments, sustainable design considerations, methods for responsibly specifying hardware, and achieve a basic understanding of how LEED, WELL, CHPS, and Living Building Challenge handle sustainable lighting. This course is intended for building industry professionals. It can be held virtually or in-person and is a combination of presentation and discussion.
