This course is for new or aspiring project managers in project-focused consulting firms in engineering, architecture, design, and environmental services. We will cover the project lifecycle – initiation/proposals, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closeout – with practical tools, tips, and tricks for managing projects to successfully meet client, stakeholder, and financial objectives. Topics include budgeting, developing a scope of work, managing scope creep, scheduling, communications, quality, risk/legal, document management, and stakeholder management. Students will apply learned principles to group discussions and to plan a mock project throughout the course. This course can be taught virtually or in person.
